3 Pillars
We at FHC believe that communities and individuals are interdependent. In order for the individual to realize health, the community and environment must likewise be supported.
This concept is ancient, and the pillars of health we emphasize are Medicine, Agriculture and Education. This is why FHC is actively partnering with medical providers, farmers and teachers, among others.
- Health & Medicine includes all aspects of health care, such as diet, nutrition, exercise and lifestyle habits, psycho-emotional health as well as medicines and therapies. Medicine addresses the individual patient AND the health of whole communities. The more holistic and human our medical model- the more it addresses our unique, individual needs and the interconnection of our body, soul and spirit- the more it can positively influence our relationships and communities. This holistic and integrative model responds not only to our present day needs, but builds resiliency and capacity for ongoing development into the future. FHC believes all patients should have access to integrative and complementary medicine and have the right to make free, informed choices about the their health.
- Agriculture & Environment addresses the way we care for our natural environment and raise our food, including animal husbandry. How we tend our soil, waters, crops and animals, forests, fields and wetlands, effects and reflects our own state of health. Fostering an appreciation for the rhythm of the seasons, stars and natural life cycles and understanding the interdependent balance of life is essential if we are to protect and restore our living planet for future generations. Biodynamic, organic and sustainable agriculture aims to improve the quality of our food and environment now and over time, continually building toward a healthier future. We are looking for ways to support and build these practices locally and globally.
- Education, Parenting & Self-Development. Education is life-long, but begins in childhood. It has the potential to nurture and ignite the potential of each one of us and when it really meets the needs of the individual, it can inspire them toward a lifetime of learning and self-development. An unhurried, developmental approach to childhood allows the child’s capacities to unfold naturally. This creates an open heart and mind ready to learn. Advancements in technology strongly effect child development as well as social and emotional health. We need new strategies to meet these challenges and protect healthy development and community life. Parenting and teaching methods have profound impacts on health for the individual and the community and need to be supported and adapted for a changing world. Adults also require time to unfold and develop their full capacities and become active and engaged in their communities. Ongoing education that nurtures and inspires the individual toward self-development and service is a foundation for health and should be available to everyone.
Ultimately, we hope to foster socio-economic changes that allow these three pillars to help re-shape our society. FHC supports the principals of equal opportunity, cooperative governance and our right to pursue these pillars of health for our future. Current economic, legal and social policies discriminate heavily against the freedom to pursue and realize these goals. We hope that by building community and growing awareness, we can join together in the spirit of collective unity to accomplish these ideals!
The healthy social life is found
When in the mirror of each human soul
The whole community finds its reflection,
And when in the community
The strength of each single one is living.
