SUMMARY:Fever - An Important Ally for Growth and Healing
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the fifth and final session of the Strengthening Immunity webinar series\, featuring Anthroposophic Nursing and Therapeutic Eurythmy co-sponsored by the Foundation for Health Creation (FHC) and the Anthroposophic Health Association (AHA)\, Thursday\, May 26th at 5:30pm PST/8:30pm EST. \n\n\n\nIf you wish to attend for free\, select the RSVP option\, but please do be sure to enter both your first and last name when you register. If you would like to make a donation\, use the “+” symbol next to the ticket level you wish to contribute. If you purchase a ticket\, you do not need to also RSVP; either option will get you registered. \n\n\n\nJason Yates will bring Therapeutic Eurythmy movements to support the immune system. Eurythmy therapy developed out of eurythmy as an art. The therapist studies eurythmy for four to five years\, then spends several years developing the art into a therapy. Eurythmy has for its vast vocabulary all the sounds of speech and music\, all transformed into gesture. Eurythmy therapy is an active therapy done by the patient themselves once the exercises are learned from the therapist. Because eurythmy’s vocabulary is so large\, the effects of eurythmy movement meet many needs\, illness\, developmental difficulties\, physical and mental challenges. Those who practice eurythmy therapy find it stimulating\, soothing and satisfying\, and it gives a sense of agency in self-healing. \n\n\n\nFor more information\, ATHENA’s website is www.therapeuticeurythmy.org. \n\n\n\nElizabeth Sustick\, RN has been in the caregiving profession since 1970. Her post-graduate study in Anthroposophic Nursing included certification as an Anthropsophical Nurse Specialist\, Rhythmical Einreibung Specialist and a Rhythmical Massage Therapists. Elizabeth had her own private nursing practice and has taught nurses and care-takers extensively\, she’s also enjoyed co-working in the Medical Section\, continuing to bring meaning and joy to the art and practice of Anthroposophic Nursing. \n\n\n\nIn 1997\, Jason Yates received a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University before working internationally as a technology consultant\, primarily in the field of virtual reality. He completed his eurythmy training in 2010 at Rudolf Steiner College in California. Following two years of performing in Europe and Asia\, Jason completed his therapeutic eurythmy training in Germany before joining the Cascadia Society for Social Working\, a Camphill community serving adults with special needs in North Vancouver\, BC. He subsequently earned an MA in therapeutic eurythmy from Alanus University. Today he lives and works in Eugene\, Oregon as a core faculty member and eurythmist for Waldorf Teacher Education Eugene. Jason also serves on several non-profit boards\, lectures on Anthroposophical themes\, and offers private therapeutic eurythmy sessions.

SUMMARY:The Thresholds of Life: Supporting Transitions Through the Arts
DESCRIPTION:Part of the Strengthening Immunity Series \n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us for the fourth session of the Strengthening Immunity series co-sponsored by the Foundation for Health Creation and the Anthroposophic Health Association. If you previously registered for any of the three prior sessions in the series\, you do not need to register again. \n\n\n\nTo attend for free\, please select the RSVP ticket option. To make a donation\, please select the number of “tickets” you would like to purchase by using the ‘+’ in the ticket section below. Please be sure to enter your first and last name when registering. \n\n\n\nThreshold experiences in modern times are often dulled and diluted. Is this because they are frightening? Or too difficult? Or out of control? The process of death\, the greatest threshold experience\, is often medicated with morphine or other pharmaceuticals\, and 90% of the women giving birth in the United States are opting to be completely numb from the waist down when they choose to have an epidural. In this webinar\, midwife Lael Stimming\, therapeutic singing practitioner Giselle Whitwell\, and music therapist Sheila Johns will briefly explore these threshold experiences and how we can support individuals and families through our varied beginning and end-of-life artistic disciplines. \n\n\n\nMidwifery is often referred to as one of the oldest professions in all recorded history. Throughout the centuries\, it has been held in high respect\, and midwives were sought out not only for their skills with childbirth\, but also for their knowledge as healers\, bone setters\, and ministers to those who were dying. \n\n\n\nThreshold experiences are deeply significant in the life of each individual on earth as nodal points in the cycle of life. We will begin our webinar with a focus on birth\, and we will end by turning to the process of death\, which\, as we will see\, has similarities to what a woman goes through when giving birth. \n\n\n\nAmong the arts\, music in particular has a very special and important place in our lives\, because as human beings\, we embody all of the elements that comprise music. Exploring life’s thresholds through the lens of therapeutic singing and music therapy will deepen our appreciation for the sacred work of the midwife throughout human history.

SUMMARY:How plant oils help relaxation\, sleep and immunity
DESCRIPTION:Whenever we feel vulnerable and stressed\, warmth can support us in our need to meet life’s challenges of continual growth and transformation. Contemporary research demonstrates that strong warmth processes allow us to feel comfortable and capable in our body and in our environment\, and nourishes our relationship with ourselves and others. \nThere are many holistic approaches to support physical and emotional warmth in Anthroposophic Nursing. The giving and receiving of footbath therapy\, mediated by warmth processes\, is an encompassing therapeutic experience that supports and allows for balance. Footbaths gently engender warmth. Footbaths cultivate comfort and calming relaxation\, nurture the whole person and relieve symptoms related to imbalance. Contemporary research demonstrates that footbaths positively impact the autonomic nervous and immune systems. \nJoin us on 27 April 2021 to experience a simple but effective method known as the footbath using organically sourced bath oils of lavender\, rosemary and arnica. \n \nThis is a therapy you can offer yourself or to another in need of caregiving.\nTo register for free\, click on the “Going” button below. To register with a donation\, add the number of tickets you’d like to purchase. All donations go toward supporting future offerings like this one. This event is co-sponsored by the Foundation for Health Creation and the North American Anthroposophic Nursing Association.
